Early detection is everything.

If breast cancer is found early, there are more treatment options and a better chance for survival. Even if you feel healthy now, just being a woman and getting older puts you at risk for breast cancer! Getting checked regulary can put your mind at ease. Finding cancer early may save your life!

There are three main topics that relate to early detection:

1. Breast Cancer Detection:

There are different kinds of breast cancer screening tools available:

  • Mammography
  • Clinical Breast Exam
  • Breast Self-Exam

It is important that you know your specific recommendations for each screening method.

2. Mammography:

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast. It is the best screening tool used today to find breast cancer. A mammogram can find cancer at an early stage when it is small and easier to treat.

3. Breast Imaging Methods:

When other imaging methods are needed there are other options to take:

  • Ultrasound (sonogram)
  • MRI
  • Scintigraphy
  • Sterotactic Imaging
  • Lymphatic Mapping
  • PET
